Kaunas is located in the south parts of Lithuania and is the second largest city in the country after the capital, Vilnius. During the interwar period it was sized as a temporary capital, from 1920 to 1939.
Kaunas is known for it’s rich culture and academic life. In 2022 it has been designated as the European Capital of Culture, by the European Union. The country uses the Euro as its currency and with the EU membership offers a convenient relocation for any job applicants with EU citizenship.
Here you can live a comfortable and vibrant life at a very affordable cost of living. Because Lithuania located in the north parts of Europe, it has a humid continental climate. You will get a proper experience of all four seasons, white winters, flowering springs, hot summers and colourful falls. In the summer you will be tempted to take a day trip to Lithuania's Baltic coast, featuring long sandy beaches just like in South Europe.
