Malaga office Christmas party!
Since the holiday season is upon us, we as a Malaga office could not ‘not’ partake in these festivities obviously. As we are officially a ‘Norwegian’ company, we could have done this in the Norwegian style. But instead we created a slightly different concept… As we have many nationalities in the office and also a wide variety of cultures, we figured it might be nice to all bring traditional dishes from our home country / region. A nice fun way to show our diversity in the office.
A couple of examples of what we ate during our little cosy dinner!
Stoofvlees – Belgian dish with beef & beer
Stoofvlees is in theory very easy to make, one of the most important aspects of the dish is the beer though. So you need to have the correct ingredients at home to make it work. The concept is that you have to put the beef in cubes on a low heat in a big casserole filled with beer, mustard, vinegar and all kinds of different ingredients. The point is that the beef absorbs the flavour of the beer by putting it for a very long time (maybe even 1 day) on a low heat. The result is a stew, goulash-like dish that goes very well with Belgian fries & Mayonnaise.
Västerbottenpaj – Swedish cheese pie with wheat, salt & butter
It is a hard cow's milk cheese with tiny eyes or holes and a firm and granular texture. As in Cheddar cheese, the curd is heated, cut, and stirred before the cheese is moulded and aged. Strong in flavour, its taste is described as somewhat like Parmesan cheese, salty, but with more bitter notes. It is light yellow in colour and has a fat content of 31%. Västerbotten cheese must be aged for at least 12 months, but 14 months is more common practice.
