How to find a job using social media

These days, almost everyone has a social media presence, in one form or another. We’re going to show you how you can use this to your advantage and how it can help you in your search for a new job!

LinkedIn is arguably one of the best tools out there to find a new job. Therefore, it’s essential you set up your own LinkedIn profile. Take your time when creating this, here are some tips on how you can make your profile stand out!

Now that you have your profile, you will be able to connect and network with professionals all over the world. Recruiters can find your profile and contact you directly about job opportunities.

Did you know that Facebook is actually a great tool in your job search? There are thousands of job groups out there – we suggest you join some!  Here at Multilingual Job Worldwide, as well as hundreds of other recruiters and companies, we use these Facebook often to post about new vacancies. And even if the job that the recruiter is advertising might not be what you’re currently looking for, you should contact them anyway! They probably have other offers that match your profile.

Keep it clean and professional

Most companies do a quick online search of you before they hire you. Now imagine, they stumble across their new candidate’s public Facebook profile full of unprofessional pictures of them at a party. That immediately taints the image they have of their candidate and might even ruin the chance for them getting the job. It just takes a couple of clicks to keep these things private, so not everybody can have access your profiles.

Last but not least, if you’re applying for a job, it’s very likely that the company also has their own social media presence. Use this to your advantage to find out about things like company culture, announcements and the company’s missions. Add some of this knowledge this to your cover letter and it will immediately come across as more professional. Plus, it will probably score some bonus points in your interview!

We hope that helped and wish you good luck in your search for a new job!
