How to stay productive when working from home

Dear readers,

The current situation is complex, and many companies decided to implement home-office for the time being. For some employees, it’s a dream becoming true: being able to work in pyjamas! For others, it’s difficult to stay focused while the dirty dishes are waiting and the laundry machine is ringing. Or even to just get out of bed!

This week, we would like to share some advice to be productive, at home.


  1. Create your own space

We recommend you to find a spot out of trafficked areas (kitchen) and find a quiet corner of the house. If possible, near the window to enjoy the sun and boost your mood. Surround yourself with calming elements like plants or soothing music. Make enough space that you can have everything you need to get your work done easily at hand.

  1. Plan short breaks.

Even if you are working from home, you’re going to need brain-breaks once during the day. Maybe it’s a YouTube video, some Instagram scrolling, a book, a glass of water. Choose what you like and set a timer for 15 minutes (no more). You will feel refreshed and ready to start again!

  1. Get Comfortable.

You are going to work 8 hours like a normal day in offices, it’s therefore important that you are comfortable enough to stay focus. It’s awfully hard to be a focused, productive person when you’re constantly straining to see your computer screen or rubbing your aching back. Find a great chair, put a pillow for your back, switch for a stand-up office if your back hurts too much, be creative!

  1. Exercising.

Taking short breaks for exercise can help you refocus and re-energize throughout the day. While being at home office, you will spend less energy than usual, it’s thus important to make the blood flowing in your body! Your head and heart (and back, and shoulders, and knees…) will thank you for this one. Some squats, jumping jacks or a little dance will do.

  1. The famous to-do list.

Make a list of tasks you need to complete every day and tick them during the day. It’s a simple method with an automatic reward that will keep you focused. We can also recommend you to set-up a planning for the week with a strict schedule (8:30 – wake-up + breakfast/ 9:00 – exercise/ 9:15 – start to work/etc.)

  1. Get ready for the day!

Force yourself to get up and get ready for a regular workday, every day. There’s just something about dressing that makes you feel more professional and ready to begin your work in the most productive way possible.
